Meet the Coach

Hello, I am Sharmon Scriven, President & CEO of Livingstones Education & Training
Services, owner and operator of The Traveling Office, and formally Director of Sponsored
Research with the Department of Navy and serve as one of the Career and Life Coaches
with Livingstones. After over 25 years of creating a successful career and managing and
supervising people, I have extensive experience in coaching people to become all that God
created them to be. As a career coach, I work with clients to help bridge the gap between
where they are in their career and where they want to be. Through an interactive, facilitative
process, we explore a variety of topics which may include examining life
purpose, defining elements of a desired career, exploring personal belief systems and
motivators, working through the mechanics of a job search, and building skills in career self
management. My goal as your career coach is to guide you in making "work" meaningful
and fulfilling instead of just "work". I have a strong and natural love and respect for my
clients and devote my full attention and energy to meeting your needs. Trained to listen,
observe and customize an approach to your needs, I will work to find solutions and
strategies that will help you be successful in your career and life.
Many of my coaching sessions include written exercises, as well as oral communication.
Most of the sessions will be focused on how to design and implement a fulfilling life. After
going through years of formal schooling and now watching my own daughter and many
other children go through formal education, I realized that many formal education programs
neglect at least seven essential areas of learning: how best to learn; how to maximize our
wellness; how to live our life on PURPOSE; how to design and create the life God intended
for us; how to be a catalyst for others’ growth and development; how to be a good spouse;
and how to be an effective parent. Ironically, we spend about 90-95 percent of our time
functioning within these areas. My life and career coaching sessions will focus primarily on
these areas. Rest assured all coaching sessions are private and will not be discussed with
anyone.
What you can expect from me as your coach?
- focused on you and your goals
- determined to keep you on track for results
- believing in your phenomenal potential and in your ability to achieve success
- unconditionally constructive and objective
- cheering you on, encouraging and supportive
- enthusiastic about your success
- persistent but patient
- direct, frank and honest
- discreet–my client list is confidential. You will not read about yourself in my
promotional material. Your success, not the marketing of my coaching practice is my
main motive.
What do I expect from you as my client?
My 3 Rs for coaching are that you, my client, are:
Ready
• ready for coaching now with no self–imposed barriers to action and progress;
• ready (as in 'keen') for change;
• ready and determined to take any necessary action;
• ready to suspend your disbelief;
• ready to adopt a more positive attitude.
Responsive
• open to change;
• frank and straight–talking;
• willing to break patterns and to step out of your comfort zone.
Reliable
• about keeping appointments and making payments;
• about keeping to commitments you have made to take action and not sabotaging yourself.

As a prisoner for the Lord,
then, I urge you to live a life
worthy of the calling you
have received.
Ephesians 4:1
God has chosen us to be
Christ’s representatives on
earth. In light of this truth, we
are challenged to live lives
worthy of the mission we have
been given—the awesome
privilege of being called Christ’
s very own. People are
watching your life. Can they
see Christ in you? How well
are you doing as his
representative? Are you living
the life you were born to live?
